The new year kicks off with a bang! For years, I’ve wanted to cover events purely for the love of storytelling, but lacking media accreditation always held me back. Well, that’s now history. I’m officially an accredited photojournalist under the Media Council of Kenya! This is a huge win for me, allowing me to document public events, protests, and occasions freely.
How did I get here? Despite my Accounting & Finance degree from Strathmore, I’ve spent nine years as a visual storyteller. The Media Council required only my portfolio and provided a training session at Daystar University to bridge the gap for non-media graduates. That’s it! If you have the work to show and meet the requirements, you can also get accredited.
I thank the Media Council and everyone involved for this opportunity, another step toward realizing my dream of telling authentic African stories. I hope to inspire upcoming media practitioners to to get accredited and follow their passion
Tomorrow, it could be you. Let’s keep telling our African stories!
Happy 2025! 🎉

Maasai Mara, 2024.
This year has been nothing short of remarkable. Among the countless stories that stuck in my memory, this cheetah stands out as a symbol of resilience and coexistence. She lives close to a village in the Mara, navigating to balance between the wild and human life.
Every time we ventured into the park, I would ask John, my trusted guide, to take me to her. She became my “Plan B” on most days, a reliable subject as I followed her through her daily struggles—hunting, avoiding conflicts with cows, and navigating interactions with villagers. Such is her life, a raw testament to survival in a shared landscape.
Here’s to more stories, more lessons, and a deeper connection with the wild in the year ahead. Thank you, 2024.

I watched as a group of baboons paused, sat down, and quietly took in the last moments of the setting sun. Moments later, they hurried off to their hideout, as if the sunset signaled the end of their day.
Some of the things I witness in the wild are almost impossible to put into words and some might even sound unbelievable. But this is what I live for: capturing untold stories of people, places, and nature through my lens.
If you take the time to plug yourself in the wild, especially in the calm of early mornings or late evenings, without any need to hurry, you’ll discover a world full of wonder and beauty waiting to be told.”

I don’t think I’ll ever gather my senses enough to convince them it’s okay to be this close to such a massive elephant. But moments like these truly define what 2024 has been for me.
This year, I set out with a goal to explore as much of our beautiful country as I could—pocket allowing—and I’m grateful to have spent a total of 3months in the wild so far. Out of 11 months, that’s time well spent!
Should I start asking myself why I have a house in Nairobi? Or I should wait and ask later?
With just a few days left in the year, I’m hopeful to push this record even further and set an even bigger target for 2025. Here’s to more unforgettable adventures in the wild.

After a busy trip to Arusha, Moshi, Mt. Kilimanjaro, and Materuni Waterfall, I’m finally back in the city, ready to get back to my creative work with clients. I spend some of my time at @unitedpictureske as a creative consultant, photographer, and film producer, and I also help @substationke run the production space. There’s always something exciting going on, and it feels good to be back, even though I’m feeling a bit low on energy.
On my way back, I spent two days in Amboseli National Park. As always, I couldn’t pass up the chance to see and photograph the elephants. But this time, one elephant really stood out to me—a big male who was struggling with a swollen leg. He seemed to be in a lot of pain, barely able to move and stuck in one spot. I’m not sure what was wrong, but it was tough to see such a large, powerful animal like him suffering.
I’m hopeful that between Saturday, when I saw him, and now, someone was able to help him. He’s a big, active bull, and I’m wishing for the best for him. Moments like these are a reminder of how tough life can be for animals in the wild, even the biggest ones.
Here’s hoping for a good outcome.
